Matthew Butcher’s FloodHouse project is moving up and down the estuary at the moment and it was moored off Southend last night. I walked down the pier to see it launched, and this morning, across the mud flats as the tide went out.
I sat on the beach for an hour waiting for the tide, enjoying the sun, the sounds of the funfair and smells of the sea. Butchers’ project is all about how the landscape is architecture, and I think FloodHouse looks quite at home here in the Estuary.
